European Dodgeball Federation Annual General Meeting Recap

On the 8th February, we held our yearly Congress: EDF’s Annual General meeting, which brings together representatives from member nations to discuss the latest developments and vote on key decisions shaping the future of dodgeball across the continent. A follow up meeting was held on March 5th due to time limitations. The following points summarise actions taken during the meetings.

  1. Ukraine Welcomed as New Member
The Ukrainian Dodgeball Federation was officially welcomed as a new member of the EDF during the AGM. They join as a full member; we are excited to welcome them to our organisation and look forward to seeing them on court.
  2. Committee Member Selection Delegated
Congress agreed to delegate the vetting and selection of new committee members to the Executive Council. This decision streamlines the recruitment process, ensuring that qualified individuals are appointed to key roles within the organisation more rapidly – members can now be appointed ad hoc, instead of annually at Congress. The Executive Council has vetted the backlog of committee applicants and appointed these to the relevant positions.
  3. Health & Safety Committee Established
The new Health & Safety Committee was formally established. This committee has been tasked with ensuring that future EDF events prioritise player wellbeing, both on and off court. Applicants for this committee were shortlisted by the Executive Council and subsequently voted in. A list of members can be found within our new organisation structure. The Council will continue to recruit for this committee.
  4. Approval of Conflict of Interest and Gender Representation Policies
Congress approved a Conflict of Interest Policy drafted by the Executive Council, safeguarding the integrity of decision-making processes within the federation. This policy can be found in full here. Additionally, Head of Development Tamara Höfer drafted a new Gender Representation Policy which was also approved, reinforcing the EDF’s commitment to fostering diversity across our organisation. This policy can be found in full here. These documents in combination will ensure that the EDF, our Committees, Councils, and Teams will grow in a manner that accurately represents our diverse community.
  5. Media Regulations
New Media Regulations, outlining agreements surrounding image use and broadcasting rights between EDF and host nations, was drafted by Head of Media Zoë Wells and ratified by member nations. These regulations are available here.
  6. Minor Updates to Eligibility and Protest and Corrections Regulations
Changes in phrasing and terminology, as well as some minor corrections to improve clarity and intention within these documents, were voted through.
  7. New Head of Legal
Shun Wong has now stepped down after many years of hard work with EDF as our Head of Legal. Lottie Millington was elected as the new Head. We wish Shun and his family the best and thank him for everything he’s done for EDF as part of our Council.
