Rules Version 6.1 – Changelog

The following outline the changes made in version 6.1 of the EDF Playing Rules. The most up to date version of our rules can be found here.

• Rules for youth tournaments (U18 and beneath) were implemented into:
  • Rule 2 Section 1
  • Rule 3 Section 2
  • Rule 4 Sections 3 and 9
  • Rule 8 Section 3
  • Rule 10
• Rule 3 Section 6: Further clarity given as to which balls can be held by retrievers. Clarification on which team will be deemed to have the majority of the balls if both teams have two balls and the 5th is on the centre line out of court.
• Rule 5 Section 3: Specification on outcome if out incurring events take place between the happening of the false start and the whistle blow by the official.
• Rule 6 Section 6: Clarification that a team must lose the majority of the balls to make the official stop the countdown for the “play n balls” call.
• Rule 7 Sections 1 and 2: Specification that an exiting player is a player deemed out until the moment they have left the court. At that moment, they become an out player.
• Rule 10: Addition that injured players should be brought outside of the playing area for treatment.
• The word “referee” was changed to “official” throughout the document.
• Further rephrasing was done throughout the document to make it shorter and easier to understand.
